How to get from airport to Mirissa
Colombo - Mirissa: there go many times a day (each half hours or so) long distance buses with or without A/C from the Bastian Mawatha road/bus station to Matara or Tangalle (Bastian Mawatha is one stop before Fort railway station). Take one of these buses and ask the conductor if it possible get off the bus in Mirissa (Rs. 260, 4 hours). Otherwise get off the long distance bus in Weligama and from Weligama to Mirissa take a public bus (Rs. 9, 10min.).
Alternatively you can take the train from Colombo to Weligama (line Colombo-Matara), get off the train in Weligama and then take a public bus to Mirissa. The distance between Weligama´s railway station and bus station is cca 300 meters. The train leaves Colombo Fort railway station each day at 6:55, 8:35, 10:30, 14:05, 15:50, 16:46 and 18:00 and the travelling time is between 3,5 a 4 hours. The fare is Rs. 400 first class and Rs. 220 second class.
Airport - Colombo: "Colombo Airpot" is located 35km from the Colombo city nearby village Katunayake. There is no direct bus from the airport to Colombo city but you can go to Colombo very easy:
Get off the arrival hall, turn left and go 50 meters. There is a small shuttle bus stop, the bus is old and his color is red or white. Shuttle bus is free and takes you to the small bus station in Katunayake (cca 10min., all people will get off). From this station take a public bus (Rs. 50) or an A/C bus (Rs. 170) to the Bastian Mawatha station (1,5 hour).
Taxi from airport to Colombo is USD 20-25.
